Ambassador Program
Who we are & What we do
We are a non-for-profit seeking to achieve better outcomes for men, their families and the Ballarat and Western community. We are run by volunteer directors with a diverse background, but a shared passion for improving mental health outcomes.
BMMH’s mission is:
To provide counselling and support for men struggling with mental health in the Ballarat and Western region, by enabling timely access to appropriate mental health care.
Our Vision is:
To improve access to high quality mental health care for men, taking into account their specific needs, reducing the burden of mental health issues in our community and reducing suicide rates.
To help achieve our Vision, BMMH provides 3 x free counselling sessions to men so that there is no barrier to them taking the step to seeking and receiving help. The counselling is conducted remotely providing great access to every community.
Men’s mental health is a topic that is not always openly discussed, but we seek to challenge that and to make sure that men feel more willing and able to reach out. BMMH have helped around 160 + men so far, but we need the sporting clubs, businesses and other organisations to help extend our reach.
How can your Club, Business
or Organisation help?
BMMH needs to make more people aware of its services because the greater our reach, the greater our impact.
As a sporting club, business or other organisation with social media and/or other contacts and networks in the Ballarat and Western region you can help.
Ambassador Program
BMMH is inviting sporting clubs, businesses, and other organisations in the Ballarat and Western region to join our Ambassador Program and help raise awareness of BMMH’s services.
Periodically (twice per year) we will provide our Ambassadors with a gentle, carefully prepared message for our Ambassadors to send out on their social media. By doing this together, we will reach more men in need – and save lives.
For those sporting clubs, businesses and other organisations who have not already joined our Ambassador program, it is not too late! The more that join us, the stronger and more widespread our message and the more lives we will positively impact.
The Launch: Ambassador Program 14 November
On 14 November Ballarat Men’s Mental Health launched its Ambassador Program where it has invited sporting Clubs, businesses and individuals to join. Ambassador partners will send out a message on their social media in December and April each year reminding men that help is available.
Mr Scott Morris, one of Ballarat Men’s Mental Health directors said “The Ambassador Program is an exciting milestone for Ballarat Men’s Mental Health. Our Ambassador partners will help us to reach and remain accessible to men in Ballarat and the Western region who may need help. We know that men are often less inclined to seek help for mental health problems. Ballarat Men’s Mental Health plays a crucial role in connecting men in need with the support services that could ultimately save their lives.”
Mr Morris also said “We are grateful to Pesant Restaurant (who operate Hairloom Catering) for supporting the launch of our Ambassador Program by providing us with a space for a number of Ballarat’s sporting Clubs to gather for the launch and to enjoy a delightful dinner.”
The dinner was attended by around 30 representatives from sporting clubs and sporting association representatives in and around Ballarat including cricket, football, netball, basketball, clay target shooting and soccer.
